William Hartnett Obituary
William F. Hartnett, age 82, of Wilmington, DE passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Bill was the owner of William F. Hartnett Plumbing and Heating Co., where he still actively worked along with his son, William Jr. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed on Barnegat Lightship. He was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Delaware Veterans. Bill loved boating and enjoyed his friends at Chesapeake Landing. He also was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Florence P. Hartnett and his wife of 48 years, Ann. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Raico; his children, William Jr. of Wilmington and Michele Lombardo of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers Jack, Richard and David and his sisters, Patricia Bonk and Mary Haley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Wednesday, May 8, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave, Wilmington, DE; burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. Family and friends may visit at Doherty Funeral Home, 1900 Delaware Ave., Wilmington, DE, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Rd., Milford, DE 19963, or Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
