Yolanda Davis Obituary

Age 71, of Wilmington, DE and Fountain Hills, AZ (formerly of Brigantine, NJ), died at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Thursday, October 14, 2010 due to complications of lung cancer.
Born in East Orange, NJ, she grew up in West Orange, NJ and was a 1956 graduate of West Orange High School. In 1957, she married her husband, Bill and they resided in Chester, PA before moving to New Jersey in 1964, first residing in Piscataway and later in South Plainfield, where she raised her family and was very active in community and school affairs. Yolanda was a member of the JFK School PTA, the South Plainfield Women's Club, the South Plainfield Jaycettes and the South Plainfield Italian American Club.
With her husband's job change to Pennsville, NJ in 1981, she moved to Newark, DE and became a part time resident of Brigantine, NJ, where she eventually moved in 1984. Yolanda and Bill returned to Delaware and have been residents of Wilmington since 2004. In 2007, they purchased a winter residence in Fountain Hills, AZ.
Prior to her retirement, Yolanda held a number of positions in banking, most notably Head of Teller Training at the United National Bank in Plainfield. The positions most enjoyed by her because of their diversity and variety of new challenges were Executive Secretary of the Spanish Community Organization of Plainfield and General Manager of Personal Touch Limousine Company in Atlantic City. She was raised among many family members who were involved in the garment industry in Northern New Jersey, including her mother, who was the owner of a dress manufacturing company, Madison Dress, of Orange, NJ. Yolanda, too, was a very talented seamstress who enjoyed creating clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren.
Yolanda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bill; her sons, Bill Jr. (wife, Lisa) of Golden, CO and David of Newark, DE; her daughter, Jane Bishop (husband, James); her grandchildren, Paula Davis, Carlo Davis, Jayme Bishop and Jessica Bishop; and her brothers, Anthony Fiscarelli of Atlanta, GA and Carlo Fiscarelli of Snellville, GA.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Adele (Zeppi) Fiscarelli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ Our King Church, 28th and Madison Streets, Wilmington on Tuesday, October 19 at 11 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may visit at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Monday, October 18 from 5 - 8 pm and on Tuesday, October 19 from 9 - 10 am.

Dear Bill: When we talked recently I was aware that Yolanda was very ill and felt that you were being very strong as a loving husband. Even though only having talked with her briefly over the years, one realizes that she was a lovely person, and I have so admired your devotion and care for her as time has passed. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers - may God give you peace in this time of loss.

Condolences from Pennsylvania. I'm the granddaughter of Rosaria Zeppi Zaccaria, and have stayed close to Linda Winton-Schneider. I probably last saw Yolanda at Linda's wedding; I recognize her picture, though. Please accept my sympathy; may Yolanda rest in peace. Helen Verticelli Subbio
