Amelia Kostecki Obituary

KOSTECKI Ms. Amelia Marie Amy Kostecki, age 66, formerly of Amelia Island but presently a resident of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Friday afternoon, May 9, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, FL after a heroic 7 year battle with cancer. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was the eldest of three girls born to the late Dominic Joseph and Veronica Helen Dragone Bartolomeo. Being raised in Jersey City, she attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grammar School and was a member of the graduating class of 1965 from St. Michael Catholic High School. After high school she attended Berkley Secretarial School. She later lived in Bloomfield where her children, Bill and Dominique were born. In 1979, she and her family moved to North Caldwell, NJ where she enjoyed her years raising her children, providing for them, and being their number one fan at all their sporting events. After a number of years of vacationing at the Amelia Island Plantation, she retired and moved to Amelia Island, FL in 2000. Ms. Kostecki was a member of The 200 Club - a charitable organization in Northern NJ, and the Mercier Club - a catholic organization in Upper Montclair, NJ. She was active member of Notre Dame Church (North Caldwell, NJ), Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament (Roseland, NJ) and St. Michael Catholic Church (Fernandina Beach, FL). She enjoyed and coveted her time with her family as well as sharing her joy of cooking with her family and friends. She leaves behind her son, Willard Michael Bill Kostecki Jr. and his wife, Anastasia, and her granddaughter Arabella Marie of Davie, FL, her daughter, Dominique Cook and her husband, Andy, of Jacksonville, FL. Two sisters, Annette Bartolomeo and Veronica Romaine, both of Jacksonville, FL, Nieces, Nicole Bartolomeo, Alyssa Romaine, Kimberly Kostecki and grandniece Kylie Kostecki, her grandpups Rascal, Jersey, Kokonuts and Brooklyn, as well as many extended loving family members and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend Father Jose Kallukalum, Celebrant. Her family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 7:00 pm in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard Funeral Home where the Prayer Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 6:00 pm with Deacon Art Treadwell, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands for Lung Cancer, 823 Cedar Street, Jacksonville, FL 32207. This was an organization Ms. Kostecki was an active member of and was very dear to her heart.
