Benito "Ben" DiMartino

1929 - 2016

1929-2016 Benito “Ben” DiMartino, age 87, of Broomall on October 7, 2016. Benito was born in the Abruzzo region of Italy and arrived in the United States at age 22. As a young man he was a determined hard worker and learned the art of stone masonry while raising a family. His strong desire for learning various aspects of construction eventually led to him starting his own business. In 1964 he started his own general contracting company and serviced the Main Line, Delaware County and many neighboring areas. He continued his hard work ethic throughout his 80’s. He most enjoyed family gatherings with Italian food, sharing stories and preserving Italian traditions with family. He enjoyed making his own wine and it became his signature blend that was enjoyed by many. Survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Angela (nee Taraborelli), his sons Leonard and Raymond (Kathy), his daughters Diane (Charles) Terlizzi and Linda (Steve) DiMartino-Leatherwood, and his 5 grandchildren Charles Jr, Raymond Jr, Michael, Amanda and Michelle. He was the loving brother of Guglielmo DiMartino and his late wife, Ida, the late Fred Piacere and the late Maria Avato. He is also survived by sister-in-law Rita Piacere and brother-in-law Damiano Avato. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wednesday evening, 7 to 9 PM and Thursday morning, 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the D’Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008. Funeral Mass 10 AM, St. Anastasia Church. Interment Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
