Bertram Robert Toomey

Bertram Robert "Bob" Toomey Bertram Robert "Bob" Toomey, age 79, of Springfield, PA, died at home on December 4, 2013. Survivors: His wife Beatrice (nee Smith), Daughter Bonnie, Son B. Robert Jr. (wife Mary), and Grandchildren: Danielle, Jessica, Nathan, Christina, Angela, Robert, and great grandson, Ethan. He was born in Southwest Philadelphia, and moved to Springfield in 1968. He attended John Bartram High School and played soccer. He worked for Sabin Associates, Bates Brothers, A&P, and Super Fresh. He was active in the Navy on a YBFN and became a hard hat diver, graduating first in his class. He became a second class petty officer on the Battleship New Jersey. He enjoyed playing softball in the men's league at Halderman Field, along with scuba diving, tennis, various other sports, but most of all spending time with his family. He is a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving on the property committee, church council, church softball team (captain), communion server, usher, evening sexton, also sang in the choir. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration on Monday, December 9, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. and his Memorial Service at 7 p.m., in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 Lynbrooke Rd., Springfield, PA 19064.
