Charles McDermott Jr. Obituary
Charles J. McDermott, Jr., 79, of West Chester died Friday April 5, 2013, at Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit in West Chester.
He was the husband of Rosemary C. (Quinn) McDermott with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles J. McDermott, Sr. and Florence McDermott.
Charles, affectionately known as Jake, worked in sales and marketing for Texaco Oil, prior to his retirement. A parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Jake enjoyed watching Philly sports, golf and family vacations at the Jersey Shore.
He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, especially his wife.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, his children Annmarie Gorson of West Chester; Charlie McDermott and his wife Barbara of West Chester; Rosemary Saraceni and her husband Joseph of West Chester and Michele Pace wife of Brian of Springfield; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation/Service: Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, April 11 followed by his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382.
Interment: Private.
In lieu of flowers: Contributions may be made to: Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Uncle Jake was such a wonderful person to be around. I remember also the great picnics at Academy Road and the great laugh he had. My Dad, Joe Howard, always looked forward to visits with your family.

Uncle Jake was such an important part of our family. He was such a gentleman. Ill never forget all the fun we had at Uncle Jake and Aunt Rosie's house on Academy Avenue. I will fondly remember Mr.McDermott in his great care of his wife, love of his family, pride in his son and daughters, and his grandchildren. I was lucky enough to work with this loving man for many years and to know his family for so many. My prayers are with you all at this time.
