Edward Contaldi Obituary

Edward F. Contaldi, 84 Of Glenolden PA; a U.S. Army Veteran Edward F. Contaldi, 84, died peacefully on December 8, 2011. Edward was born in Brooklyn NY in 1927. He married the late Rita Widener in 1952, and settled in Glenolden the same year. He worked for 42 years in the supermarket industry winning Penn Fruit's Merchant of the Year award in 1969. He retired in 1992 , spending his time with family and developing his great talent for creative writing. After his wife Rita's death in 1998, he married Janjira Smeejang in 2002. Brother of he late Joseph and Robert Contaldi Survivors: Beloved father of Margaret (James) Lawson of West Chester, Kathleen (Robert) Rosano of West Chester, and Edward (Catherine Passante) Contaldi Jr. of Philadelphia; loving grandfather of Joseph and Megan Wozniak, Robert and Cristina Rosano and Dominic and Anthony Passante-Contaldi; brother of Gennaro Contaldi , JoAnne DiSimone and Antionette Randazzo. Visitation: Family and friends are invited to Edwards Life Celebration Wednesday morning after 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr., Secane PA Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield Contributions in Edward's memory may be made to the Pennsylvania S.P.C.A., 350 E. Erie Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19134-9987, 215-426 6300. Ed and Uncle Benjamin always enjoyed the going to car dealers and trying to J down the salesmen on used cars and then leave before they had to sign.

I was very sorry to hear that Ed had died. We have been next door neighbors for 40 years. I always enjoyed our talks, he was a delightful guy. He will be missed.
