I have very fond memories of Mrs. Derrick as my 3rd Grade teacher at St. Madeline-St. Rose. She touched the lives of many children such as myself. Condolences to the family and friends who will dearly miss her. She was the teacher that influenced me the most in my schooling.

I was saddened today to hear of Mrs. Derrick's passing. I had the pleasure of being in her 3rd grade class at St. Mads in 1987. She was a gifted, warm, and inspirational teacher who holds a special place in my memory, even after all these years. Mrs. Derrick was one of the reasons I decided to become an elementary special education teacher myself, as she molded even the most challenging students into an apt pupil. Thanks for setting the bar, Mrs. D. and setting it high. Expecting the best from your students and encouraging us to want success for ourselves. I will always remember the story about the Mickey Mantle baseball card, the multiplication table tape recorded quizzes I dreaded, and your many stories which imparted life lessons to the students whose lives you've touched throughout your teaching career. I regret not being able to thank her later in life. However, the legacy she has left behind will live on through her friends, family, and students, whose lives she has touched. God Bless You, Mrs. D.

I am very sorry for your loss. Mrs. Derrick was a very caring, dedicated, and wonderful teacher. I remember one of her favorite songs was "Tiny Bubbles", and she used to hum it all the time. She was a wonderful women. Prayers to you and your family.

Christopher and family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your Mother. What a wonderful woman and inspiring teacher. She was truly one of a kind and touched the lives of those she taught in a positive, long-lasting manner. Whenever anyone mentions their favorite teacher, Mrs. Derrick always comes to mind for me. I remember those days when she would take us to lunch, Arby's was one of her favorites or on a special day, we'd go to the Gaslight in Ridley Park. The last time I saw your Mom was at a St. Madeline's Reunion. She looked wonderful and recalled the name of everyone who approached her, remembering something about each former student, still trying to make everyone feel special. Thank you for sharing your Mom with so many students throughout the years.

My deepest condolences to your family. Mrs. Derrick was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Madeline's. She was one of my favorite teachers and I enjoyed seeing her at the "all year reunions" St. Madeline's had in recent years. I'll never forget running into her while watching one of my sons play basketball against her grandson's basketball team at a tournament in Aston. I recognized her right away and when I approached her to say hello she remembered me by her nickname for me and asked about all of my family (parents, sisters and brothers). She was a kind, remarkable woman and she will be missed by many people. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. Derrick was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Madeline's in 1968. I can honestly say that she was my favorite teacher ever--not just at St. Mad's. It was obvious that she loved children and I loved going to school when I was in the 3rd grade because of her. She would take groups of students out to lunch sometimes--to Ginos or McDonalds. During our class trip to the Phila. zoo she gave her chewing gum to one of the monkeys. To this day it makes me laugh when I think about it. Teachers come and go in our lives and we forget many of them, but not Mrs. Derrick. Everyone loved her. My condolences to her family and friends and may she rest in peace.

Remembering Mrs Derrick from her teaching days at St. Mad's. Truly a beautiful woman inside & out who gave 150% with everything she did. Stern but fair, the kids loved her as did anyone who she came in touch with. R.I.P.
