George Powers Obituary

1936-2015 George E. “Eddie” Powers, age 79, of Boothwyn, PA died suddenly on April 21, 2015. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, he will be sadly missed by all. Born, raised and educated in Philadelphia, he is the son of the late Daniel and Emma (Whitelam) Powers. Eddie was a 42 year resident of Boothwyn and a career steelworker with several local steel companies. He attended Memorial Presbyterian Church, volunteered for several organizations including serving lunches at Holy Saviour/St. John Fisher School, and enjoyed being outside in his garden or fishing. He was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and loved “his” Phillies. Eddie is preceded in death by his son, Steven, grandson, Ryan and great grandson, Bentley as well as 11 older siblings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette (Gieder), children, Charles (DeAnn), David and Robert (Dawn), grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Amanda, Samantha, Michael, Christopher, Caitlyn, Anthony, Elizabeth, Brian and Riley, great grandsons, Brayden and Lincoln. A viewing will be held on Friday, 12:30-1:30PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA followed by funeral services at 1:30PM. Interment, Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, PA. Enjoyed your harassing me on the corners when I was crossing kids. I will always remember you walking by and say we pay you to stand here and do nothing. Lol and calling out at me as you drove by, still not doing anything. You were by far one of the nicest people I ever met. will miss you my friend.
