Reading all the entries was hard, as I see my brother will be sadly Missed! It creates such a void in my world as many others, as he touched everyone he ever met! I have many fond memories, and wished for so many more. He was way too young to have been taken from us!! I know he is at peace, and the service yesterday was so beautiful! It was a testament to the love he gave us all! I can Only hope I could be half the man he was in his life, as he enriched us all in so very many ways! I Love you Brother!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the girls. Thank you for being part of my life. I wouldn't have made it through law school if it wasn't for Mr. Root. It was a proud moment to have him at my graduation. You will never be forgotten.

mr root was the only teacher i ever respected if it wasnt for him i wouldnt be where i am today. so happy i got to have him as a votech teacher. you will be missed

Everyone knows Rooty's wonderful "hearty" laughter. I don't know anyone who laughs with as much gusto and that will be missed so much. But I remember Rooty appearing on his motorcycle on one of his spur of the moment visits to our house in Tennessee to see his (and Brenda's) Uncle Clifton who was very ill and close to death. So many visitors would try to talk to Clifton, and it was difficult for Clifton to respond because he had trouble breathing. Rooty came in and sat by his side and didn't say a word...just sat quietly caring. That's the kind of man he was too! Thank you Brenda, Marcie & Connie for sharing him!
Love to all, Susan & Jim Pate

Growing up with Rooty was a lot of fun - many, many memories. He was a good and very loving (and fun-loving) man. When him and my Dad (Uncle Elmer) were in the same room, the laughing was non-stop, and you never knew what would happen next. . .
Rooty will remain in my heart forever.
Prayers and sympathy to his family, whom I know he loved very much and would do anything for - absolutely anything!

I will always remember Rooty. He has been a fixture in my life since I was a child growing up on Greenwood Street. Riding his motorcycle, driving his BIG truck, or taking the neighborhood kids around on his snowmobile. He was such a kind, sweet man. Tom and I send our sincerest condolences to Brenda and the rest of the family.

Harry was one of those special people who possessed charisma and a passion for teaching that earned him the love and respect of his students, their parents and his co-workers. Harry was truly loved, and his presence on this earth will be missed. Christmas in heaven will be just a bit brighter with Santa now there.

January 31, 2013

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Root family. Mr. Root was a great instructor and a great man, he was an excellant role model. During my time in his class for Carpentry at Aston Vo-Tech, Mr. Root gave me the confidence and insperation not quit. He told me during my time in his class from 1997-1999, that "Quitting is not the answer son, keep trying and strive to achieve at the highest level possible". To this day 14yrs later, I still live by Mr. Root's insperation to keep trying. May God bless you Mr. Root and your family. I will miss you Mr. Root greatly, but I will never forget you.

Miss you badly already. It was an amazing time I had with Pop. God's love forgiveness and mercy revealed itself through our relationship. I remember the first time you introduced me to someone as your "son". From that day on you were my "Pop". From talking politics and yelling at the TV to sitting quietly for hours with no need to speak. From planning for the future to learning from you about the past. What I could learn form you seemed infinite. I wish I took more advantage of your wisdom. I will strive to carry on your legacy of compassion and servanthood and live up to the promises I made you. I love you and I can't wait to see you again.
