Jack Edward Beecher

Jack Edward Beecher, 90 Jack Edward Beecher, 90, resident of Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA, husband of Wanda Beecher, died February 4, 2014 at Maris Grove's Rose Court. Born in 1923 in Pekin, Illinois, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Almina Brown Beecher. Jack and Wanda were married in 1942 and recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janette and her husband Stephen Butterfield, Rebecca and her husband David DeCook, son Alan and his wife Beth Beecher, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Jack served in the Army in World War II and in Europe with the 89th Division, receiving two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP). Graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1950, he began a career with DuPont that lasted 34 years. He worked with the company mainly in Charleston, WV and Linden, NJ, mostly in a managerial capacity. He was raised in and practiced the Methodist faith in many churches throughout his many career relocations over the years. Since moving to Pennsylvania, he has been a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington, where he participated in the choir and served on various committees. Memorial Service: will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, 2 p.m., at Maris Grove, with a reception to follow.
