Jeffrey Foltz Obituary

Jeffrey Andrew Foltz, 52 Jeffrey Andrew Foltz, 52, of Lincoln University, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the Paoli Hospital. Born in 1958, Jeff's life was one filled with love and laughter. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania to John and Norma Foltz of Ogden. He attended Holy Saviour Parish School and graduated from Saint James High School. After high school, Jeff attended the Florida Institute of Technology and then began a career selling consumer electronics. At age 40, he returned to college at the University of Delaware and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science a few years later. He then earned a Masters degree in Animal Science and joined the Delaware Biotechnological Institute as a Research Associate. An avid animal lover throughout his life, Jeff will be remembered for his volunteer work on behalf of homeless pets. Anyone who knew Jeff appreciated his wry sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed life, and often found himself laughing so hard that tears ran from his eyes. A lover of all music, Jeff especially enjoyed mixing up a margarita, sitting on the front porch, and listening to Jimmy Buffett tunes. As "parrotheads" he and his wife Wendi attended many Buffett concerts with friends which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also loved to travel to warm places and he and Wendi would most often be found for a week or two each February in Key West, FL. At home, Jeff was rarely seen without his much loved dog Trixie by his side. They took multiple walks daily, stopping to talk to everyone they passed. He also had two cats - Dorian Gray, a blind rescue kitten who adored him, and Fuzzy. Jeff was predeceased by his loving parents John and Norma Foltz. Survivors: His wife Dr. Wendi Lee Foltz (Lincoln University, PA); his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Pam Foltz (Chadds Ford, PA). He will also be much missed by his wife's parents Dennis and Carolyn Clark (West Grove, PA) who loved him like a son and his brother-in-law Stephen Clark (Taiwan). In addition, he leaves behind a nephew Jason Foltz of Corvallis, OR and a niece Stephanie Johnson of Newark, DE. He will also be much missed by his four grand-nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly (John, Henry, Ava, and Julia.) Jeff was an organ donor. Those left behind are taking some solace from the fact that his "gift of life" will help others to live on. Service: A Memorial Service celebrating Jeff's life will be held 11AM Tuesday January 4th, 2011 at the Chandler Funeral Home of Wilmington, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE, 19803. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family from 10-11AM before the service. Burial: Will be held privately. Contributions: As a wonderful way to remember Jeff's love and kindness towards all of God's creatures, contributions may be made to the Delaware Humane Association 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. Jeff and I went to UD together and earned our Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Animal Science around the same time. I will always remember how warm, loving, and funny Jeff was. He had such a bright spirit and he was always a reassuring and calm presence in a sea of highly neurotic pre-veterinary students. I also worked with Jeff at Centreville Veterinary Hospital. Our paths crossed many times and I'm grateful that I was able to get to know him. He was a huge part of the University of Delaware community and we will miss him dearly.

Jeff - thank you for being you =)

Wow, where do I begin? I meet Jeffery while taking care of his lovely mother in the nursing home. I didn't know him as well as I did his brother Jim and his wife Pam. What a wonderful family. I was just looking on face book to find Jim or Pam last night. And to see this today. My heart broke. What a great family. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. I love this family.
