Joan Koch Stewart

Joan Koch Stewart age 80, of Riddlewood, Middletown Twp., died August 12, 2016, after a long five year battle with cancer. Loving mother and wife of Alfred, with whom she shared 50 happy and adventerous years of marriage. Joan graduated from Upper Darby HS in 1953 and Penn State University in 1957 followed by a masters degree from the Univ. of Delaware. She coached softball and was an officer of the original Media Petticoat Girls League. Joan was a member of the St. Francis De Sales choir for many years. Her and her husband’s love of international travel took them to 40 plus different countries including China, Russia and 3 months in Kenya. Joan taught chemistry at Neumann University for over 20 years. She was a die-hard Phillies and Penn State football fan. She also enjoyed playing bridge. She was a firm believer in her Catholic faith. Predeceased by her beloved son Ronald, sister Anne and brother-in-law Robert Ferry. In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her daughter Wendy (John) Valentino and granddaughter Giavanna of Georgia, niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
