John P. "Shaggy" Baldwin

1953 - 2017

John P. Baldwin “Shaggy”, age 63, lifelong resident of Lester, succumbed to his short battle with cancer on June 30th 2017 while surrounded by his friends and family. After graduating from Interboro High School in 1971 John continued to devote himself to the fire service and local communities. John was a life member of Moyamensing Volunteer Fire Company, life member of Lester/Essington Fire Company as well as a member of the Hanley Hose Volunteer Fire Company and Franklin Fire Company. In John’s 48 years of devoted service he arose to the rank of Past Chief, President and Trustee of Lester Fire Company. While devoting himself as a firefighter John also worked at Westinghouse for 10 years, drove for Jevic Transportation for 15 years and was currently adding to his 9 years at PennDot. Preceded in death by mother, Jeanette Heffernan (Malatesta); father, Jerry Baldwin; step father, William Heffernan. John is survived by his loving wife Sharon F. Baldwin (Hayes) of Lester, Daughters; Christina Knox (Spencer) of Norwood, Donna Baldwin of Essington and Granddaughter Kayla. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws. Family and Friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9am to 11am at the Tinicum Township Fire Company, 99 Wanamaker Avenue, Essington, PA, immediately followed by a prayer service at 11 am and a procession past the Lester Fire Station.
