John J. Gallagher Jr., loving husband, father, pop-pop passed away peacefully at home November 4 at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia, Jack resided in Fairmount and S.Phila, and later Prospect Park. Son of the late John J. Gallagher Sr. and Mary E. Rowland, Jack was the oldest of 11 siblings and is survived by his loving wife Nancy to whom he was married for 21 years. He was the widower of Theresa Gallagher (Kelly) and is also survived by children Carol Sadwick (Robert), John Gallagher (Maria), Greg Gallagher (deceased), Theresa Murray (John), Mark Gallagher, Maureen Addesso (William), Thomas Gallagher (Tracey), Patricia Henry (Stephen) Charles Gallagher (James), step-children Marie Larkin Gallagher, Nancy Larkin Kovach, and James (Megan) Larkin, his 2 brothers and 6 sisters, 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Jack graduated from Southeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia and served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Titania. Jack completed his Naval Electrician Apprenticeship and retired as a Data Processing Supervisor from the Naval Shipyard after 37 years. An avid sports fan, Jack “Flash” Gallagher played semipro football for Ranson and loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, 507 American Legion and St. Madeline’s Parish. Jack loved life and adored spending time with his large family. He spent summers in Wildwood NJ and could often be heard saying “Anyone who doesn’t Love this Life is crazy!” Family and friends are invited to attend Jack’s viewing Wednesday, Nov. 9,2016 from 6-8 PM at Knoetgen/Donahue Funeral Home 746 Kedron Ave., Morton, PA 19070 and Thursday Nov. 10,2016 after 10AM at Notre Dame Church, 990 Fairview Rd Swarthmore, PA, followed by 11AM Funeral Mass.
