Paul Jeffries Obituary

1929-2017 Paul William (Jeff) Jeffries, 88, passed away Sept. 30 at Riddle Hospital. Born in Manahawkin, NJ, he had been a resident of Media for over 50 years. He graduated from The Williamson School of Mechanical Trades in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania. Paul was a master carpenter for over 50 years and, most recently, was a crossing guard for the Rose Tree Media School District. He was a longtime member of the William Rush Wood Carving Club. His artistic skills and talents were considered exceptional by fellow wood carvers and wood carving collectors. Several of his creations were on display at such esteemed galleries such as the Brandywine River Museum. He was featured in several wood carving publications including Woodcarving Illustrated and won several wood carving awards, including the 1984 World Championship, Ocean City, MD. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Nellie (Elberson) Jeffries, his two brothers and two sisters, Edward, John, Ada, and Lydia (Ethel). He is survived by his only son, Michael Paul Jeffries of Pensacola, FL; one grandson, Shannon Michael Jeffries; three great granddaughters, Alyxandra, Sophia, and Mollee Jeffries, and one granddaughter, Kristina Talbot; three great grandsons, Jeffrey, Andrew, and Michael Talbot and one great granddaughter, Katherine Talbot. Paul’s wishes were to have his body donated to medical research, hence there will not be a formal memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to Main Line Health Hospice, Riddle Hospital, Media, PA 19063. Special thanks go to Dr. Robert Centrone, the nurses and support staff of Riddle Hospital Palliative Care and Hospice units that looked after Paul and provided him with excellent care, compassion and love.

I miss my friend Mr. Jeffries. I taken him some dinner one thanks giving and we use to go out for lunch and keep other company. The last times I saw him he was in the parking lot waiting for someone to come fix is car and he was telling me how bad his back was hurting him. So I told him I would be back to go to the hospital with him. When I knock at his door he was not there. Then one day I saw his art work was gone out of his window I enquired to the people who were cleaning out his place. They td me what hospital he was in I visted him and he was knocked out and never recovered from the surgery. Gone to soon. Love your kindness for ever. Vernay Richardson your lunch partner and friend. God bless rest easy Mr. Paul Jeffries.

I am new to the area and was Mr. Jeffries' neighbor. I helped him the day he went to Riddle and went to visit him a few times while he was there. He was just the sweetest, kindest man - I'm glad to see that he did have family and hope that he is at peace.

I am remembering him taking me hunting for my first time and teaching how to fire one of shotguns. Shooting my first rabbit and him showing me how to clean it. He was a good teacher in many ways. Though we were not close, it was a pleasure to see him at our house to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my mother and father, Warner, his brother, and Virginia, my mother. I'm sure he will be missed in so many ways, by so many. Dave and Debi Jeffries (Nephew) Carneys Pt. N.J.
