Richard Ruby Obituary

Richard A. Ruby, 53 Richard A. Ruby, 53, died peacefully with his adoring wife and 3 daughters at his side on February 1, 2011. Rich was a graduate of Interboro High School and attended Delaware County Community College. He lived in Parkside for many years before moving to Aston in 2006. Rich was employed by Ashland Chemical Co. in Philadelphia for 18 years, and had previously worked for UPS and FedEx. Richard was a talented musician, singer, and songwriter. His passion for music was obvious. He mastered exceptionally challenging riffs while never missing a note vocally. Richard was a natural whose skilled developed at an early age. By the age of 13, he began performing in area township swim clubs. Ultimately, Richard "Rock & Roll" Ruby moved on to playing bars and community functions in the Tri-State area. He played with a number of bands including: Earthband, Syndrum, Excaliber, The Better Half, CPR, and of the recent RUBYMAC. Richard's proudest and most cherished moments were spent with RUBYMAC, in which he performed along side his adoring wife Karen and closest friends. He was a dedicated man whose hard work allowed him to successfully provide his family with a beautiful home and all the comforts in life. Rich's friends describe him as being caring, funny, and a pleasure to be around; he was one who couldn't do enough for you and expected nothing in return. His sense of humor, charm, and creativity are irreplaceable and he will be sorely missed. On a typical spring day you could find Richard tending to his garden. As the seasons change the Ruby family will continue his tradition by spreading seeds throughout the soil, leaving a legacy of color and life for his friends and family to enjoy. He was the son of the late Wilmer Ruby Jr. and brother of the late Wilmer Ruby III.
