Sharon Kay Ruby, 80 of
Hannibal, MO passed away at 7:47 AM on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in
Palmyra, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in
Hannibal, MO. Burial will be at the Grand View Burial Park in
Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2025 at the funeral home.
Sharon was born on March 10, 1945 to Raymond Lee Allen and Margaret Ellen Wyatt Allen.
She married Leroy Ruby on March 10, 1966 in
Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2007.
Also preceding Sharon in death were her parents, one sister, Marquita Riley, two brothers, Raymond "Dinky" Allen and Roger "Buster" Lee Allen, one sister-in-law, Brenda Allen and one brother-in-law, William Riley.
Survivors include three children: Lesa Ruby (Dave), Jimmy Ruby and Darin Ruby (Alisia); two brothers: Rocky Allen, Rick Morrison (Donna) and two sisters: Starla Elledge (John) and Rita King, all of Hannibal MO; ten grandchildren: Dawn Gamble (Jacob) of Quincy IL, Dana Boots (Cody) of Camp Point IL, Megan Banks, Christopher Sebers (Amber), Bryant Ruby, Rolla Ruby, Darin Ruby Jr., James Ruby Jr. (Abby), Cindy (Adam) Sharp and Amber (Dustin) DeVerger, all of Hannibal MO; eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Sharon's youth, she spent her time helping raise all of her younger siblings. Sharon retired from DURA in Hannibal in 2007, where she had worked for over 20 years. She also previously worked at Rival Crockpots in
Palmyra, MO and the shoe factory in Hannibal.
Away from work Sharon loved having fun. She enjoyed bingo and went on several trips to play bingo in different cities and locations. Playing the slots, checking out the yard sales for a deal and reading a good novel all brought Sharon joy. A lover of music, Sharon, liked to dance and enjoyed country western music. A wonderful cook, Sharon's fried chicken was hard to beat and her Thanksgiving dinner was always spectacular with her staying up much of the night before the big day preparing the perfect turkey! On TV Sharon liked to catch her soap operas or "Reba" to pass the time.
Most of all Sharon cherished her family, she loved to share time together, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Sebers, Bryant Ruby, Darin Ruby Jr, James Ruby Jr, Jacob Gamble and Cody Boots.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dawn Gamble, Dana Boots, Megan Banks, Cindy Sharp, Amber DeVerger, Rolla Ruby and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association or to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home Activities Fund
