I send my sincerest condolences to Eileen, Tim, and the larger family of relatives and friends. I have many fond memories of our times together during our family summer vacation in Stone Harbor, New Jersey so many years ago. I remember as a kid asking my mother what Cousin Terry did for a living. My mother told me he worked as a public school teacher. Being the child of two public school teachers, this instantly meant in my child´s mind that Terry was "good stock" as he labored in such an honorable profession. Terry lived his life by quiet example, first as a Peace Corps volunteer and then as a longtime public school English teacher. As we remember Terry and his legacy of public service, I think of President John F. Kennedy, the founder of the Peace Corps, and his words about gratitude. President Kennedy stated in his Thanksgiving proclamation in 1963 that "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." To honor Terry´s service, we must show our gratitude by serving our community now and in the future through our deeds and actions. Take this time to think about how each of us can give back and serve our country. This is the legacy which both President Kennedy and Terry McGovern left for us. It is now our noble task to pick up that torch and continue to practice this legacy for future generations. With Gratitude, Joseph W. Radzievich, Washington, District of Columbia.
