Stephen McGovern Obituary

Stephen McGovern
Stephen "The Governor" McGovern, 57, of Northford passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Carol Caruso McGovern.
Steve was born in New Haven on July 31st, 1968, and was the son of the late Kathleen Longyear Perrotti and Dominic Perrotti. A 1986 graduate of North Branford High School, Steve was a Splicer for Frontier Communications for almost 40 years. He also was a bartender for the former Oakdale Theatre, Wallingford for 25 years and later at John & Maria's Pizzeria-Restaurant in East Haven.
Steve was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Northford and the Branford Elks Lodge. He was an avid snowmobiler, fisherman, and fireworks enthusiast. He especially enjoyed weekend trips with his friends and his son, including the annual Vermont pig roast, fishing and snowmobiling, creating lasting memories along the way. He was also a devoted Buffalo Bills and Boston Red Sox fan. He coached baseball for his son for many years and cherished those times on and off the field.
Known for his warmth and generosity, Steve was a devoted husband and father who cherished his children dearly. He was a loyal friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often the first-person others turned to in times of need. He carried a constant smile and brought light to those around him. He loved to travel and created lasting memories with his family and friends throughout his life.
Loving father of Stephen McGovern, Jr. (Briana) and Jordan McGovern (Shane Duhamel). Brother of Daniel McGovern (Bridget) and Greg McGovern (Toni). Brother-in-law of Linda Caruso. Uncle of Ryan McGovern (Veronica), Kaitlin, Connor, Grant, Avery and Jack McGovern. Predeceased by his father Dan McGovern Sr.
The visiting hours will be Thursday, March 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Ambrose Parish at St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford on Friday morning, March 20th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yale-New Haven Transplant Center, 800 Howard Avenue, New Haven, CT 06519. www.northhavenfunera.com

Seams like I´ve known Steve for a very long time but it´s only been maybe 6-7 years and already he grew on me always smiling and throwing in a few jokes. Gone way to young everyone lost a great man with a great family
