So sorry to hear of Tom's death. I just read about it on Wallingford Next Door. We were acquaintances and I have missed seeing him at Dunkin Donuts In Media. My husband and I wondered about him. He was such a nice, friendly outgoing, helpful guy. It made me cry to hear he is no longer here. Our deepest sympathy to his family and close friends. Life is fragile and this was a wake up call once again that we have no guarantees of tomorrow. God Bless you.

For 35 years we were privileged to call Tom, at first our plumber, and then our friend. Throughout the years we talked numerous times about our lives and shared more than a few hugs. His love and devotion to his family and especially to his children were always first and foremost. The world has lost a wonderful, thoughtful and loving person, but heaven has gained an angel...RIP Tom, you will be sorely missed.

THree weeks ago Tom called our 92 yr old mother on the phone to wish her Happy Birthday. How he knew it was her b-day I 'll never know but he did. I called him afterwards to thank him and he said : "I love your mom and you guys are like family to me." That ,in a nutshell, was Tom. He was at first our plumber, then through years and years of caring quality service my family was proud to call him a friend too. ....He cared for us anytime we had a problem and always took care of my parents whenever there was anything they needed. His caring personable nature is hard to come by these days and my family will miss him. Thoughts and prayers to The Eckman Family in the days to come. Our family hopes you take some comfort in the love and support of so many people that loved Tom. God Bless.

I first met Tom 55 years ago this month at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. I left there about five years later for public school. I wasn't from his neighborhood, so I didn't have occasion to speak with him again until about five years ago when I encountered him and a mutual acquaintance (also an OLPH guy) at a plumbing supply store. The mutual acquaintance reintroduced us. Tom greeted me as if we were long lost good friends. That was nice. It validates what is being written here about him. RIP, Tom

In life we know that none of us will live forever. Someday our loved ones & friends will pass. I truly believe that things happen for a reason. I just don't understand when someone with a soul as beautiful as yours, suddenly leaves this earth with no time to say goodbye. God decided he needed you, and I cannot question why. You took a piece of all of us and our hearts are what you kept. You went to heaven to be with God and all of His angels. I will not say goodbye Tom, I will only say so long. You are in our hearts forever, we will miss you, our dear Friend!

To the Eckman Family: Rick and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to all of you. Tom was quite a character, for sure. We were mostly in contact with Tom and his sons over the years for plumbing issues. They have literally touched EVERY tub, sink, toilet and faucet in our home. We won't wash another dish or take another shower without remembering him. However beyond that, Tom was a beacon of sunshine; always a cheerful smile and kind word was to be had. He was always more than happy to talk and brag about his children and family; they truly were the light of his life. RIP Mr Eckman.
