William Earl Eifert Jr.

1943 - 2017

1943-2017 William Earl Eifert, Jr., 73, of Avondale, Pa., died peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2017. He was born on September 25, 1943 in Bloomsburg, Pa. to William and Gwenavie Eifert. Mr. Eifert retired from Elwyn, where he was the Director of Production Operations. He loved and was loved by the staff and the customers of the Kevin Dugan Center, Concord Training Center and Lansdowne Work Center. In his role at Elwyn Industries, he brought his many years of production and management experience from Clifton Precision, where he was a mechanical engineer for many years. He felt privileged to have shared his knowledge and passion for production operations at Elwyn, with individuals preparing for employment at the Kevin Dugan, Concord Training and Lansdowne Work Centers. He was a Mason and belonged to Prospect Lodge #578 in Prospect Park. He enjoyed cooking (large pots of “home style” food), dinner with friends and in his younger day, hunting. Bill adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his beloved goldendoodle, “Bentley”. He was devoted to his wife and family and is survived by his wife of 13 years, Heidi Maria Eifert; his son, William E. Eifert, III; his step-children and their spouses, Rebecca Monaghan (Patrick) and Justin Schumm (Anya); his brother, Don Eifert; and sisters, Lois Slaughterback and Carol Smith; and three grandchildren, Patrick Sean Michael Monaghan, Liam Joseph Monaghan, and Sophia Isabel Schumm. The visitation and funeral service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 16 West Third Street, in Essington, Pa. 19029. Visitation hours are from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. The Christian Burial Office will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Smith at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Elwyn, 111 Elwyn Rd., Elwyn, Pa. 19063 or to St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church at the above address.
