Alvin Trimble Obituary

DELAWARE — Alvin H. Trimble, 86, of Delaware passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 26, 2019 at the Country Club Retirement Center in Delaware, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 30, 1932 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Thurman and Mildred (Caudill) Trimble. He graduated from Brown High School in Kilbourne and the Columbus Business School. He went on to proudly serve his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force. On June 3, 1961, he married the love of his life Virginia Owen. Together they celebrated over 57 years of marriage.

Alvin retired from Ohio Wesleyan University after 30 years as a carpenter supervisor. He attended Millcreek Church of Christ. An avid OSU Buckeye football and basketball fan, he also loved watching his grandson play basketball. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and golf himself. He also enjoyed his John Deere tractor and making cookies. He was the official Trimble family Christmas cookie maker.

His true joy was spending time in his workshop. As an avid woodworker, give him a hammer, a nail, and some wood and he could make almost anything.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Virginia; son, Brad (Dolores) Trimble of Delaware; daughter, Kim (Dana) Davis of Delaware; cherished grandson, John David Trimble; brother, Gene (Ann) Trimble of Marion; sister-in-laws, Twila Trimble and Renee Scott, both of Delaware; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his brothers, George William "Oral", Ron, Carroll "Shorty", and Howard Trimble.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5–8 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware, where funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Minister Jack Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association. A reception will follow the burial in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room.

Contributions in Alvin's memory may be made to the Millcreek Church of Christ, 24956 Lunda Road, Raymond, OH 43067 or the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 State Route 37 East, Delaware, OH 43015.
