SAGINAW, MICHIGAN — Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, and very special significant other David Fiant passed away April 18, 2025; age 85 years. Son of the late Wesley and Edna (Richards) Fiant of Delaware, Ohio. David was an Aircraft and Engine Mechanic in the Air Force Reserves from 1957-1963. Formerly of Delaware, Ohio, he was President of Fiant Plumbing and Heating in Ohio, a family-owned company started by his father. He moved to Michigan and worked for the City Housing Commission and Frankenmuth Plumbing and Heating. He also worked for the Saginaw Public School District for 20 years as a Maintenance Supervisor and retired in 2002. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, oil painting, casinos, traveling, and loved to be with family and friends. David was a member of the Fordney Club for over 40 years and was inducted in the Fordney Hall of Fame in May 2017 for his many services to the club. He was the Director at Germania Town and Country Club, and member of American Legion 439.
Surviving besides his special significant other Luci Wallace of over 29 years are two sisters Marilyn Vernon of Delaware, Ohio and Sue Jones of Florida; three children Daveen (Bill) Forehand of North Carolina, Dale Fiant of Ohio and Diana (Nelson) Moreland of Indiana; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; nephews Brad (Dana) Vernon and Craig Vernon of Delaware, Ohio; nieces Missy (Larry) Reasinger of Hilliard, Ohio, and Mindy (Corey) Cooke of Delaware, Ohio; also, David's extended family Eugene (Christine Gugel) Haubenstricker, Dennis (Gloria) Haubenstricker, June Kern, Jeff Buchinger, Anna Haubenstricker, Lisa Haubenstricker, and Bonnie (David) Weiss, also special neighbor Brian Krenz who always took care of our outdoor needs and anything we needed done.
David was predeceased by brother-in-law Robert Vernon and extended family Michael Kern, Gary and Dallas Haubenstricker, and Dorothy Buchinger.
Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Ryan Buchinger will officiate, with cremation to follow. Dave's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or a charity of donor's choice.
A private service will be held in Ohio at a later date for the family. A special thank you to the Covenant doctors and nurses who took care of him, and the staff at Wellspring Rehab in Saginaw.
