Doug Palmer, age 90, died on August 15, 2025, at Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware, Ohio following an extended illness. He had been a resident there since 2014. Doug was born in 1935 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Kenneth and Vera Palmer, now deceased.
He graduated from Canton Timken High School and shortly after graduation he joined the Navy for four years. He enjoyed the Navy very much and often reminisced about his active service years. Upon retirement he and Elaine sold or donated their possessions and moved into their RV for six years while they traveled in the USA and Canada. While traveling, they assisted in building ten Habitat for Humanity houses and Doug continued to volunteer with this organization for several years in Delaware. They returned to Westerville in 2004 and lived there until moving to Delaware in 2014. While in Westerville they were active members of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and after moving to Delaware they became active members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Doug volunteered at Source Point for several years packing Meals on Wheels in Delaware.
He was a friendly outgoing person who enjoyed talking to everyone he met.
