Army CW5 Gary Carlton Galbraith, retired, 55, of Delaware passed away Monday morning (Sept. 17, 2012) at Kobacker House in Columbus. He fought a short but rough and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his loving family in his final days.
He was born May 21, 1957, in Hackensack, N.J., to the late Girard (Bud) Galbraith and Shirley Galbraith of Delaware who survives. Gary graduated from Hayes High School in 1975. He later joined the Army and served as a pilot, retiring as a CW5 after more than 30 years in the service.

Also left to cherish his memory are nephews, a niece and many good friends including a longtime friend from school, Will Long Jr. of Marysville.
Besides his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gregory.
His body will be cremated. He will be honored in a military memorial service and his ashes will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virgina at a later date.

I still think of Gary. We were stationed together at Belvoir, Korea, and saw each other several times while I was assigned to the Philippines after Gary retired.

I have only recently learned of his passing. My deepest condolences, as Gary made all the difference in my Army Aviation Career. His unique & wonderful demeanor, both in & out of the OH-58 A/C cockpit, enabled me to achieve a successful 30+ years of Army Aviation Service to my beloved country. I am & will always be grateful to God & Gary for his patience, unique mannerism of instruction, vast knowledge, huge dedication to duty & most of all, true friendship. RIP Gary Galbraith...I hope & pray that I see you again, in Heaven, one day.
