COLUMBUS — Henry Roy Wilson, age 93, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Lewis Center, Ohio, passed away on November 21, 2021.
Roy was born June 29, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Henry Clark Wilson and Ida Mae Cornwall. He is survived by his daughters E. Lucinda (Tom) Gandert, Dublin, Ohio, and Karen (the late Mike) Doig, East Helena, Montana, and son David (Monica) Wilson, Marysville, Ohio; along with grandchildren Linda Easley (Malcom Galloway), Cole Doig (Kassi Underhill), Hannah Wilson (Cole Norden), Meredith (Nick) Cremeans, and Olivia (Evan) See, and two great grandchildren Thomas and Alysa Galloway and sister Doris Myers, Westerville, Ohio. Roy is preceded in death by his loving wife Sarah Mae Wilson.
Roy graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1947, married his high school sweetheart, Sarah in 1949, and started a family in 1954. A proud Marine veteran, Roy served from January 4, 1952 to December 31, 1953 during the Korean War.
Roy worked for Big Bear Grocery Store for over 48 years. He was a dedicated member of Lewis Center Methodist Church for over 50 years. Roy was also Mason for over 50 years.
In retirement Roy and Sarah loved to travel and realized their dream trip to Australia on their 50th wedding anniversary. Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he gave tirelessly not only to the Lewis Center Methodist Church, but also to People in Need, Delaware, Ohio.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lewis Center Methodist Church on April 23, 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic has lessened for both Roy and Sarah.
