Jann Ichida Obituary

Jann Machotka Ichida: eight decades of joy and love. No place was too foreign for her: deserts, mountains, white water, woodland forests, oceans (on top of and snorkeling below).

As a Wisconsin Badger at heart, she "sort of" became a Buckeye during graduate school at The OSU.

Her "Life and Lab" partner of 47 years, Allan Ai (Love) Ichida passed away in 2005.

Jann was a teacher of microbiology, swimming, cycling, and white-water boating. She loved line dancing, Tai Chi, and hunting morel mushrooms. Her two daughters (Audrey and Jennifer) spent time with her at home, in the laboratories, camping, hunting mushrooms, and traveling the world. Jann's four grandchildren live in Maryland and Utah; she has a sister and brother in Wisconsin. Her WICCAN hope is: "Do as yea wish; But do yea no Harm!"

Gifts may be made in Jann's memory to the O'Neal-Jones-Burns-Shirling Fund at Ohio Wesleyan University online at www.owu.edu/give, select "Other" type in "O'Neal Fund for Decker/Ichida Award." Mail: Ohio Wesleyan University Attn: Advancement Office 61 S. Sandusky St. Delaware, OH 43015, write "O'Neal Fund for Decker/Ichida Award" in the memo line.
