DELAWARE — Jean Louise (Davis Rissler) Flahive passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at the age of 92 following a brief illness.
She was born in Radnor, Ohio and graduated from Radnor High School in 1940. She went on to graduate from Marion Business College. While in Marion she worked for Uhler's Department Store, Marion Depot, the Girl Scouts of America, and The First Presbyterian Church.
Family was the most important part of Jean's life and loved spending time with them. Throughout her life she was active while living in the Radnor, Marion, and Delaware areas. She resided at Willow Brook Christian Village for the last 14 years as an independent resident. Each Christmas she lovingly gave handmade potholders and knitted stockings to each family member, friends, new residents, and special staff. Jean was energetic, involved in her many projects, and enjoyed giving her time to others.
For many years at Willow Brook, she helped organize and schedule their monthly travel programs. She organized an annual coat drive for Willow Brook residents, dedicated to families-in-need around the Delaware area. She purchased over 1,000 coats throughout her 10 year commitment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mary Davis; brothers, Donald and Everett Davis; and her husbands, Jim Rissler and Edward Flahive.
She is survived by her 10 children, Bill (Jill) Rissler, Judy (Mike) England, Margie (Mike) Shade, Tee (Tony) Heald, Babs (Steve) Farkasovsky, Ed (Penny) Flahive, Terry (Carolyn) Flahive, Tim Flahive, Shawn (Lisa) Flahive, and Dan (Susan) Flahive.
