Kenneth Eugene "Ken" Drake, 83, life-long resident of Delaware County passed away peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Born September 4, 1939, the son of the late Ernest R. & Lula (Hager) Drake. Ken was one of 11 children. He attended Elm Valley High School. Ken was a general contractor, who owned and operated his business.
Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife Carol Ann Goodman of 62 years; sons Brent, Bruce, Bryan (Joann) Drake; daughter Marie Drake-Oliver; grandchildren Lydia, Jessica, Richard, Brista and Jeyun Drake, Justin and Courtney Oliver; great-grandchildren Rosalyn, Ryan, Aspen Loki, Archer Fox, Amira, Rian, Lincoln, Logan; brothers Benjamin and Richard Drake; sisters Roberta Mucci, Marjorie Drake, Helen Fox, Susan Hewitt, Donna Sagar; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Francis and John Drake, sister Beverly Hall.
When Ken wasn't building his business, Ken enjoyed his racehorses, going to the casino, playing cards with friends and family, and enjoyed playing with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was often seen giving them rides around the yard with the lawnmower or behind the wheel of his pickup truck. Kids were always jumping on his lap for his attention. Ken enjoyed deer hunting and boating in his younger years. He also loved being around family especially for family reunions or just Sunday dinners at his parents' farm. Those close to Ken will remember him as the hard-working husband, father, and grandfather that he was.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place October 15, 2022, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, Little Brown Jug Race Office (Log Cabin) for family and close friends to attend.
