MARYSVILLE — Mildred "Mid" Robinson Conklin, 88, of Ostrander, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware following a brief illness.
A homemaker, she was a devoted and hard-working farm wife. Since 1960, she and her husband, Joe, upheld their Conklin homestead in Delaware County. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she will be most remembered for her endless cooking, especially her minced-meat pie. She enjoyed needlework, puzzles, flowers and feeding the birds. For many years, she and her husband delivered mobile meals for Grady Memorial Hospital. She always looked forward to the annual Fourth of July festivities in Ostrander. She attended Ostrander Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Ostrander Senior Citizens for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Virginia Russell Robinson; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Edmond Taylor; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Conklin; a grandson, Dale Conklin; two brothers, Charles and Richard Robinson; and three sisters, Esther Weller, Mary Mitchell and Annabelle Van Brimmer.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Joe Conklin, whom she married Nov. 3, 1946 in Ostrander; two sons, Russell (Amanda) Conklin of Marysville and Bill (Nikki) Conklin of Ostrander; two daughters, Janet (Keith) Ott of Plain City and Mary (Jim) Rodman of Radnor; 10 grandchildren, Joe (Laura) Young, Heath (Trisha) Conklin, Oliver Conklin, Eric (Barbara) Conklin, Sarah (Jan) Ramge, Jarrett (Misty) Bauder, Justin Bauder, Matthew (Gina) King and Ryan (Kimberly) King; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Robinson; and numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Roy and Sue Young.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 E. Fifth St., Marysville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Dr. Thomas B. Martin will officiate and burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union County Cancer Society.
