Paul Gerard Hanigan, 67 of Delaware, and formerly of Croton on Hudson, NY, passed peacefully in his residence in the early morning hours of December 30, 2022 with his loving wife by his side.
Born January 22, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York, the only son to the late John L. & Mary C. (Isaacson) Hanigan. Paul graduated from Croton-Harmon High School, and went on to attend The University of Bridgeport, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business.
Paul met Diana Caserta at Westchester Airport, where they were both working, in August of 1982. They began dating, and married on November 26,1983.
Paul worked for GTE/Verizon as an aviation manager. He was with them for 31 years before retiring in 2019. Once Paul retired, he and Diana moved to Delaware, Ohio. Paul volunteered at the Humane Society of Delaware County and drove a school bus for Delaware City Schools for the 21-22 school year. He and Diana are members of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Jack Kennedy.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Diana of 39 years; daughters Candice (Chuck) Rode and Brittany (Stephanie) Hanigan; grandchildren Norah & Brennan Rode; sisters Patrice (Steve) Hanigan-Grilli and Kathryn Kennedy; Golden retriever companion Quinn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Paul and Diana enjoyed traveling everywhere, stateside and international. They also enjoyed taking walks and hiking, exploring the walking trails here in Ohio. They enjoyed visiting many of the local breweries and wineries that central Ohio had to offer. Paul was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Friends may join the family Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Fr. Brett Garland will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:30 am at the St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 West William Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Burial will follow in the spring in Croton on Hudson, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's honor to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1981, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 or the Humane Society of Delaware County, 4920 St. Rt. 37 East, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
