DELAWARE — Sharon L. Ruby, age 71 of Delaware, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at the James Cancer Hospital.
Born in Dayton, Ohio on September 18, 1950, she spent her childhood in Ashley and lived in Delaware all of her adult life. She was an avid Little Brown Jug attendee and enjoyed raising and briefly racing her own horses. She loved watching and participating in sports and spent many happy years as an usher for OSU football games. Sharon was a music and concert lover, especially the Rolling Stones. She was a cat person, a bird watcher and always kept busy with gardening, cooking & baking from scratch, and socializing with friends. She was proud to be a lifelong blood donor to the Red Cross. She was a kind, devoted and generous person with an incredibly strong will.
Those left to cherish her memory include children: Megan (Chris) Engle, Joseph (Tracy) Ruby III, John Michael (Amanda) Ruby, grandchildren: Josie, Gwen, and Mabel, siblings: Shirley Gusler, Sindy Kohler, John Hines, Mary Martin, Sue (Bob) Himes, cousin and lifelong friend Rachel Darst, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents Edward and Mary (Dowe) Hines, brother Steve Hines, and beloved husband of 30 years Joseph Ruby Jr.
Friends may call from 4 p.m.—7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3rd at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. at W. William St., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Memorial services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, Jan. 4th at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Attendees are requested to wear masks for both events.

Sharon was a member of our monthly (unofficial) neighborhood card club! We always had such fun! Sharon had so many funny stories to share. The Horseshoe Road bunch will miss her and remember Sharon as a fun, kind hearted and dependable friend!
