My dear friend from childhood. I am sorry we lost touch with each other after we visited you in San Diego in 1984. We shared many happy times growing up in the 1960s. I drive by your house on Durbin Road almost every day. You are always in my thoughts.

I am seeing this news almost two years after Neil passed. I hope someones sees this. Neil gave me my first job at the age of about 12 or 13 at The Sea Thief in Birdrock in the 1970's. I was a pain in his butt I think but am so grateful that he gave me the opportunity and taught me how to work hard. I am 55 now but think fondly of those days often when driving by the site in Birdrock. I was looking for him online to maybe drop a line and express my gratitude. Neil cared enough about some PB beach kid to help me. I am grateful. He was a good Man. I just wanted people to know. [email protected]

I had the good fortune to know Neal as his roommate and classmate at Georgetown circa 1968. He brightened every day for many with his warm personality and sense of humor. We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to all and urge you to find comfort in the memories...

The House on the Hill provided some of my and friends most memorable memories. The wine dinners in April and summer nights on the patio with music were wonderful. We all missed the place, Neal, and the service staff when Neal was forced to close.
