Samuel J. Mitchell
, 90, died January 10, 2021, at home. He had been suffering from Parkinsons Disease. He was born September 25, 1930 in Danville, PA, the son of Samuel C. and Mabel (Wintersteen) Mitchell. "Sam" following high school served with the U.S. Air Forces during the Korean War. After his military service and retiring as a teacher of 28 years, he eventually settled in California with wife, Iris. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. Sam served on the Ramona Community Planning Group Board of Directors, the Advisory Council of the Area Agency on Aging and volunteered for his varied different interests. Sam was fluent in two languages Spanish and English. He had a wonderful sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne (Mitchell) and son-in-law Robert Robey. Surviving in addition to wife Iris (Kaler) Mitchell are sons Jerry and wife Jeannie of Wallace, ID, Lars and wife Katherine of Campo, CA and Danny of San Diego CA, five grandchildren Bobby Robey and Lisa (Robey) Farrell, Aaron Mitchell, Nathaniel Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Gabriel Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell and 11 great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance will wait until Iris can be with him again.
