Clifton Paul "Cliff" Brimer

CRISFIELD-Clifton Paul "Cliff" Brimer died Friday August 22, 2014 at his home in Crisfield surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 16, 1934 on Ewell, Smith Island to Filmore F. Brimer and Evelyn D. Evans Brimer. On June 3, 1978, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Evans Brimer and they had 36 wonderful years together.

He graduated from Crisfield High School in 1952. He then joined the United States Army stationed in Korea and Japan. His years of service were from July 1953 to September 1955.

After his years in the service, he attended Salisbury State Teachers College and after his graduation from there, attended Capitol Radio Engineering Institute in Washington D.C. This was his proudest achievement of his years of study.

Cliff had a broad, accomplished career. He was an electronics technician for companies such as General Electric, Honeywell, and NOAA. Through NOAA, worked for the National Weather Service. The greatest accomplishment was his work for NASA. He began there as an electronics technician but soon worked his was up to Radar Coordinator for all of the Radar systems at Wallops Flight Center. He was in charge of tracking many rocket flights from Houston and Florida. When the Space Shuttle Program began, he was thrilled to be involved in the tracking of those flights especially the very first flight of the Space Shuttle Columbia on her maiden voyage into space and all of the subsequent shuttle flights. He was so honored when he was presented with a flag that was flown on that first Columbia flight. He retired from NASA in 1995.

He loved to fish, catch a few crabs, keep up with all of the latest technological advances, computers, travel, but most of all, spend time with his close family and friends. He also acquired a ham radio license and for many years enjoyed talking to many people from all over the world.

He was a member of Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 and American Legion Post #16

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Crisfield. A son, Leslie Brimer and his wife Nancy of Princess Anne. A daughter Allison Rowland of Alabama. His parents and his son Clifton Filmore Brimer preceded him in death. His sister Vera Townsend of Crisfield. There are 8 grandchildren David Hartman, Crystal Gillespie, Linda Sue Brimer, Meagan and Tyler Chard, Lauren Maddox, Steven and Dustin Brimer. Also, the apple of his eye, his special Goddaugher, Taylor Corbin of Tylerton. Several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services; however, there will be a private memorial service at a later date and time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be sent to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in c/o Pastor Terry Riggin in Crisfield and Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.

I am really sorry about hearing of cliffs death. I worked with him for a number of years at NASA. He was a very fine person and friend.

So sorry for your loss, Cliff was such a nice person and I have some good memories of his days working at NASA. He was such a devoted worker and memorable as well. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
