Diane Pellegrino Obituary

Diane Elizabeth Pellegrino

Berlin-Diane Elizabeth Pellegrino, age 61, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Johns Hopkins Hospital Born in Richmond, Virginia, she was the daughter of Carl Hurlebaus and Denyse Maucere Hurlebaus. She is survived by her Fiancé; Chris Nunzio, a son; Christopher J. Pellegrino, two daughters; Jenna M. Hunt (Benjamin), Nicole E. Pellegrino, two brothers; John E. Hurlbaus (Laura), Carl W. Hurlebaus, a sister; Lynda J. Tison (Robert), a sister-in-law; Kerry Bond-Mason, and her beloved pets; Abbey, Brodie and Mia.

Diane lived an extremely rewarding life as a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend and nurse. For over 30 years, Diane worked as an ER nurse, in the mother-baby unit and the NICU. As of the past five years, Diane worked as the Nursing Supervisor for the Wicomico County Board of Education. She was able to make a huge impact in her first ever "non-hospital setting role" in a very short amount of time, and went above and beyond to serve on multiple decision-making committees. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Registered Nursing from Wilmington University. Diane was an avid lover of animals and saving their lives, along with making their world a better place. In her free time, she loved doing various types of volunteer and community service work (i.e. walking dogs at the local Humane Society and rescuing dogs). She loved playing tennis, doing Pilates, staying very active, being outdoors, and taking her boat out throughout Berlin/OC. Her big smile and infectious/charismatic personality would literally "light up a room." Countless people would often say "I'm always left with a huge smile on my face after an interaction with Diane." Diane was naturally gifted when it came to caring for children of all ages. From her experience in the NICU to raising her three children, Diane was able to accumulate and share a wealth of knowledge in regards to childcare and upbringing. She raised her three kids to be strong, independent and healthy, while achieving her ultimate goal to provide the very best life for them. Diane and her children prided themselves on having an extremely close and unique bond, and she was a role model for all. She often told her kids "my three children are my pride and joy and by far my greatest accomplishments."

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2PM at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, MD. Friends may call one hour prior to service. Dean Lovett

October 16, 2017

My name is Dean Lovett, and I have been best friends with Diane's brother, Carl, for about 50 years. I remember Diane when she was a bubbly, giggly, teenage girl. I suppose the bright smile and uplifting spirit which she carried through life was simply a part of her DNA from the very start.

She was a wonderful "kid," and, clearly, just as wonderful a nurse, mom and adult friend. So sad to learn about her early passing. She was so full of life and she left much too soon. I pray that my ole' buddy, Carl, and all Diane's loved ones rest in God's peace and know that Diane is still flashing that contagious smile, but now from above.
