George Dykes

Salisbury - George Louis Dykes, 90, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, peacefully at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born on May 24, 1927 in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elsie Lowe Dykes.

George graduated from Wicomico High School. In 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge. Upon his discharge from the Army, he was employed as a time keeper at Campbell Soup until his retirement. George enjoyed playing golf as well as traveling.

George is survived by his wife, Rosalie A. Jones Dykes; a brother, Alex R. Dykes and his wife Delores; three Nieces, Ann Dykes McGee and her husband Rick all of Salisbury, Teresa Dykes Derrickson and husband Jed of Dagsboro, Teresa's Beloved Greyhound Susie, and Carolyn Lewis German of Church Creek; and a nephew, Mark Lewis of Salisbury.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Dykes Lewis.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's honor to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802, Alzheimer's Association, 909 Progress Circle, Suite 400, Salisbury, MD 21804, or a charity of one's choice.
