Helena Payne Obituary
Mrs. Payne was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Pittsville, to the late Harold and Elva Truitt White.
She was a wonderful, loving mother and wife, and will be greatly missed by her five children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She loved to garden and grow flowers and spent many hours reading books. She also loved cooking and was a great Eastern Shore cook.
She is survived by her children, Ben Payne of Austin, Texas, Stephen B. Payne of Salisbury, Donna McClellan of Virginia Beach, Va., Marcia McCormick of Richmond, Va., and Janet Wood of Noblesville, Ind; her sister, Ruth West of Pitttsville; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, Walter B. Payne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Howard Travers will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
Memorial contributions can be made to any hospice organization.

The Payne Family...My thought's and prayers are with each of you. I hope each of you find peace in time. What a sweet lady in so many ways. Sorry I was not here to share in your loss. Hope we are able to connect on your next visit. We go way back to living one street apart growing up and then found out last year she was across the street! Small world and so glad she and I had that time to share those memories! Take care and God Bless.
