Joy L. LeGates

Parsonsburg-Joy L. LeGates, 53, of Parsonsburg, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, September 2, 2016. Born on April 28, 1963 in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late John and Betty Hurley.

Joy was the owner and operator of Petique Pet Grooming in Salisbury. She enjoyed vacationing and hiking in the mountains. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband at the gym. Joy was an avid animal lover and contributed her services to local animal rescue groups. Many were blessed by her generosity and sense of humor. The light of her life was her grandson, Charlie.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a baby girl, Melody; a brother, Bobby Hurley and her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Lorraine LeGates.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles W. LeGates; two sons, Charles D. LeGates and his fiancé Heather Thomas of Salisbury and John LeGates and his wife Ashley of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Charlie, Axel and Tyreese; three brothers; John and his wife Doris, Ronald and William Hurley; two sisters; Melody Banks and her husband Steve and Betty McGrath "Cookie" and her husband Sherwood and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her beloved pets; Gracie and Angus.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 9, 2016 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Fruitland. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
