RICHARD HAYES Obituary

RICHARD HAYES Richard E. "Dick" Hayes, 76, formerly of Delphos, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at his residence in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on June 1, 1949, in Lima, Ohio, Dick was the son of Gene and Dorothy Hayes of Delphos. His early years were spent in Hutchinson, KS, and Saginaw, MI. Then his family returned to Delphos, where he attended St John's Elementary School and graduated from St John's High School in 1967. He then attended Ohio State University. Dick was a career senior retail executive with multiple companies in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, and Georgia. A gifted conversationalist with a soft-spoken demeanor and infectious laugh, Dick brought warmth and joy wherever he was. He had a great sense of humor and a memorable singing voice. He was blessed with many dear friends far and wide. In retirement, Dick embraced his love of cooking, reading, and traveling. Growing up, he especially enjoyed visiting family in Kalamazoo, MI, cherishing time spent at the lake with his cousins. He looked forward to going to Kentucky to visit Grandma's house. Her orange cake remained one of his favorite things. After retirement, Dick enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Dorothy Hayes of Delphos. Dick will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his son, Richard E. Hayes of Alpharetta, GA; sisters, Cathy (Randy) Szalkowski of Maumee, OH, and Karen Daly of Toledo, OH. Arrangements are pending at this time.
