Hard to imagine that it has been 4 years since Ed's passing. Every now and then I have memories of him walking the hospital hallway with a child in a stroller and remembering his dry sense of humor with things. I believe it was Ed that told me to camp at Buck Pond and this year we made reservations to go there. Thank you for all the great memories that bring me a smile when I'm at work at the Children's Hospital.

We'll miss you, Bobby; your gentle spirit, always quick with a joke or a laugh.
And nobody made antique model cars like you.
Rest well.

Ed will be missed by everyone who knew him. He set a positive example for all of the volunteers at Golisano Children's Hospital. Ed was always willing to help with any patient in any situation. He was dependable and had a great sense of humor with lots of stories to share.

"Grandpa Ed" was one-of-a-kind. So gentle, caring and genuine. I will always have fond memories of him strolling our young patients in the halls of the hospital or rocking them to sleep in their rooms. One could say he was a "Baby Whisperer" because he could calm almost any fussy baby.
Thank you Ed for sharing yourself with us and countless children and families. Well done faithful one.

We would like to remember Edward Yantz for his endless commitment and compassion in supporting the needs of children and families at Golisano Children's Hospital. His 3 day a week volunteer support for over 15 years made him a valued member of the medical team. Ed's calm demeanor and gentle personality soothed many crying infants and toddlers. He was often seen walking the hallways with a child in a stroller pointing out the colorful and interactive walls, hoping to bring some playfulness to their day. His humor also captured the hearts of many.
We, in pediatrics, have been so blessed to have known Ed. He has taught us so much about the value of volunteering and caring for others. He even has an award given out each year in pediatrics in his honor. It is the Edward Yantz Humanitarian Award given to the person or group with exemplary compassion, courage and commitment who has enhanced resident training in a non-clinical manner. That speaks volumes about who he was.
We want to honor and remember the compassion of Ed. He had genuine sincerity, commitment, and LOVE for the many children that he comforted and brought joy to.

So very sad to hear of Ed's passing. I cherish the chats that we had in our office and in the halls of the Children's Hospital. These talks were always graced by his sense of humor. Ed is a bright light that will live on in all that knew him.

His whitey humor also captured the hearts of many.

I will always remember Ed walking up and down the main hall of the old children's hospital, pushing a child in a stroller while providing a smile for the rest of us as we walked between units. He touched the lives of so many and will certainly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
