George Heisel Obituary
Denver, CO: George S. Heisel passed away May 18, 2013, 4 weeks before his 100th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Rosemary Gagie Heisel and his brother, Rev. Raymond G. Heisel. He was a former resident of Canandaigua and Rochester, NY. Survived by children George T. (Anna) Heisel of Jupiter, FL, Raymond G. (Kathy) Heisel of Windsor, CO, Laura (Richard) Heisel-Hill of Denver, CO, Mary Helen Powers of Aberdeen, NJ, and Marjorie (Henry) Keys of Voorheesville, NY.; also survived by 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Heisel was the oldest living member of the NY State Police, a former member of the Rochester Fire Department and founder of National Ambulance and Homecare Services in Rochester, NY. Upon retirement, he founded Heiser Speciality in Canandaigua. He was also a member of Finger Lakes Chapter of Former New York State Troopers and Court #3 Royal Order of Jesters.
Memorial contributions suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church Gardens, 150 Varina Dr. Rochester, NY 14618; Funeral Mass and burial will be at a later date in Rochester, NY. Condolences may be shared with the family at [email protected]

Sorry for your loss. Your dad was something else and I mean that in the fondest way. God, who can ever forget the famous Heisel vs Heisel confrontations. Great memories. He was quite the guy. Hope you are both well.

Dear George,
You may not remember me. My name is Mike O'Brien. I was the Medical Social Worker at Genesee Region Home Care for Dorothy White and then Tony Amado. Your Dad was a friend of my father's,Neil O'Brien Chief of Engineering at St. Mary'Hospital.Your Dad and Mom were always kind and gererous to us at GRHCA.
As were you and Janet.Your Dad was almost a legend by the time I came along.I'M not sure, but I think he was responsible for having the hospitals give up using their own ambulances.
He was a good man and will be remembered fondly by my family.

Such fond memories of our summers at Eagle Point! The Heisel Family were neighbors you only dreamt of. The Nash being driven out on Consesus Lake,fire crackers exploding in our fingers,pregnant women water skiing,shots in the arm for asthmatics,and uniformed State Troopers stopping in for visits,made our summers unbeatable memories.
