I have very fond memories of Jimmy at the soda shop. Jimmy was always very sweet and friendly with all the kids. He pulled a large iced glass for us and gave us our first taste of cherry or vanilla coke, straight from the fountain, with the appropriate syrup added in front of your eyes. When he added the seltzer, it was just the beginning because after he gave you the glass and straw he would pour some extra coke in a glass, look you in the eye and ask "are you ready?" You better start sipping, because Jimmy would pour that extra glass of soda into your drink, always at the risk of spilling over the side of the glass. Spent many afternoons talking with Jimmy and friends. You are missed!

What a shock to learn of your passing. Our friendship has covered over 75 years. My sister Ombra and Bernice were high school friends and Ombra loved the tuna and egg salad sandwiches Pearl made at the drug store. Bet there will be a big reunion in the great beyond. You are missed.

Jimmy's passing is sad news for a 10th warder born and raised in the shadow of Kodak Park. Wallace's will always be a landmark for me. RIP, Jim. Thank you for the memories.

So many memories of breakfasts and meals from the 70's. Look before you leap! (Meaning don't salt your food until you taste it. ) What a great soda fountain! Christmas Cards exchanged every holiday including this year have kept the thoughts fresh. RIP Jimmy!

I never met Jim but I do know that he made difference in the Tenth Ward with his soda shop. There is a Facebook group (Childhood memory's in the Tenth Ward) that a lot of people have such good memory's of Jim and Wallace's Soda Shop.
Rest in peace my friend knowing you made a difference to a lot of kids and all who came into your store.
I invite any family's members to join the Facebook group and share any pictures and memories you might have.

Jimmy, if you only knew how many lives you influenced in your shop. You will forever be remembered by hundreds of Tenth warders as a part of their good ole days but also Wallace's will forever be remembered as a part of the golden age of the Tenth Ward. That corner at Ridgeway and Dewey has never been the same!!! RIP and thank you!
