Joseph Rausch Obituary

Rausch, Joseph M.

Conesus Lake: Joe passed away in the warmth of his home with his family on Friday, November 9th, 2012 at age 81. He grew up in the "19th Ward" of Rochester, NY, attended Aquinas Institute and spent most of his adult life on Conesus Lake. Joe was a beloved member of the St. Matthew Church and community. As an avid skier Joe was a member of the Rochester Ski Club. He was a true sports fan and was a well respected plumbing contractor. He danced through life with a smile on his face, making everyone he touched happier with his humor, and better for having known him. Like the sentiment from the movie "Its a Wonderful Life", Joe died a wealthy man because he was so well loved.

Joe is survived by Marcia, his wife of 35 years, her children Kerry (Jack) Stich, Michael Jones, Tim (Molly) Jones, daughters Mary (Tim) Jones, Donna (Chuck) Graham, Ann (Ed) Millet and son Joseph (Wendy) Rausch; sister-in-law Elli McEvoy, 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends may call Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012 from 3-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 21 Big Tree St., Rte 20A, Livonia. His funeral mass will be held Wednesday Nov. 14th at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Church, 6591 Richmond Mills Rd., Rte 20A Livonia. Fr. John Hayes will be the celebrant. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Matthew Church, PO Box 77, Livonia, NY 14487. To send a condolence and for further information please visit:

Dearest Marcia and family, He looked so good at our 40-week club dinner, and we're so sorry we couldn't be with you today at his funeral. You know we would be there if possible, and thank you so much for keeping us informed. Just too sad to think we won't get to say "goodbye" to him. The world needs more Joe Rausch's to spread his love. Warmest sympathy, Pam and Bob Rice

We'll miss you Joe, we have so many good memories of our times together. You always had a good joke. Tom remembers seeing you come home early and when he asked you said I take so much pipe and when I run out I come home. He thought that was very funny and typical Joe.

Joe, thank you for 60+ years of friendship and smiles. You taught me if I wanted to be a plumber I had to know three things the last one was "Payday was on Friday" I'll leave the other two for your other friends to add. We'll miss you Joe, may you rest in peace.
