Marcus Costich Obituary

Costich, Marcus X.

Webster: Marcus passed away at age 25 on January 24, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. His passing was peaceful, and he was surrounded by his family and closest loved ones.

Marcus exemplified a love for life, fun, and family. Life revolved around Sodus Bay and boating to various destinations on Lake Ontario. Marcus was a beloved camper at the Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association where he went on to instruct and coach throughout his high school years. At McQuaid Jesuit High School, Marcus participated in sailboat and ski racing. During college, he worked with the Bristol Mountain ski racing staff and as a sailing coach at the Rochester Yacht Club. Upon graduation from St. John Fisher, Marcus worked for family law and engineering firms.

From a young age, Marcus knew how to light up a room with a simple smile and signature dance moves. Marcus' love for music and people coming together defined his spirit. He was a selfless and loyal friend to so many. We plan to celebrate his life the way he would have wanted. Marcus is survived by his mother and father, Kimberlee (KC) and Mark Costich; sisters, Sarah Costich King (Robert) and Lisa Costich Frazier (Steven); many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral chapel (1031 Ridge Rd., Webster). Friends are invited to bring a written memory or photo for the family's Memory Book. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday 10 AM at Peace of Christ Parish at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Blvd. Immediately following the service, please join us for a celebration of Marcus' life at Shadow Lake, 1850 Five Mile Line Rd, Penfield. Interment will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association at SBJSA Inc., 7433 Clover Street, P.O. Box 117, Sodus Point, NY 14555. To share a memory of Marcus or send a condolence to the family visit www.anthonychapels.com.

Marcus has always been like my 4th son, still see him coming around the side yard at the cottage on his bicycle, seeing who was out front (by the water) and sitting down and joining us for a porch dinner. During my beloved summers with my boys, nephews and nieces all headed down with lunches, backpacks and life jackets to SBJSA for camping or as instructors he was always there. Will never forget how at the SBJSA 50th anniversary barbecue he and Alex were sitting at picnic table. I mentioned that they could and probably would be there for the 100th anniversary. Marcus said, "yes, and we'll be like the old (65 or so) guys sitting over there". No words, Marcus is so alive and a special part of us all connected in so many aspects of our lives. The best friend ever for my son and all who knew him.

"Hi Mrs. Kelly" with a big smile, awhile back when I walked through the doors at the Ski Co. I remember Marcus helping Seamus feel right at home as a 7th grader on the McQuaid ski team, when Marcus was a senior. So I will remember that big smile and pray that God comfort and support you with His grace. God Bless
