Florida: Suddenly, Saturday, September 19, 2015. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, DeWitt W. Tacy; son, DeWitt Jr.; grandson, Layne; parents, Lloyd and Margaret Townsend; sisters, Ruthann and Elizabeth; mother-in-law, Marion Tacy; sisters-in-law, Rosemary and Joan. Survived by her son, Timothy (Summer) Tacy; daughters, Lori (Joseph) Pelitera, Lisa (Eric) Simmons, Lynn (Timothy) Moore; daughter-in-law, Sharon Tacy; brothers, Richard and John Edward Townsend; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-granddaughters; many nephews, cousins and friends.
She had a love of giraffes, manatees, dolphins and traveling. Mary Ellen was a lifetime member of the Barnard Ladies Auxiliary. Her greatest joy was being a grandma.
Friends may call Saturday (Sept 26th) 9-11 AM at Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, where her Funeral Service will follow calling Saturday 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Private Interment, Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in her memory.
