Michael Barclay Obituary
Rush: Died August 16, 2007, at age 50, doing what he loved with a dear friend at his side. Predeceased by his father, Frank Barclay. He is survived by his wife, Laura Thurner; mother, Noreen Barclay; siblings, Dave (Debbie) Barclay, Kay (Jeff) Kreiter, Janet (Lester) Guilfoyle & Rich (Lindsey) Barclay; 4 loving dogs; many nieces, nephews, Laura's family, a loving community of friends at the Simon School, Forensic Economics, and his fellow pilots.
Mike was a generous, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He was a dedicated teacher and colleague at the U of R Simon School for 22 years. He found a true passion when he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot. His other interests included scuba diving, tennis and flying to remote fishing spots with his buddies.
Friends are invited to call Thursday, 2-4, 6-9 PM at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd. South). Mike's Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 2 PM in the Interfaith Chapel at the University of Rochester. On campus parking will be available. Interment, private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mike Barclay Memorial Fund at the University of Rochester, Carol Simon Hall, Rochester, NY 14627, or the Bright-Star German Shepherd Rescue, 30 Wheatstone Circle, Fairport, NY 14450 in his memory. We are very saddened by the loss of our newly found friends. I am very grateful to have met Mike at Crescent Beach in May. My son Darrin will forever remember his first water take-off and landing thanks to Mike letting him have the stick. I also will never forget my wonderful ride and the great photos I took that were placed on our DVD to the pilots. God bless all of you and we will always remember the great time!

Laura, Jean, and John-- We here in Hamilton are terribly sorry for your devastating loss. This is a loss for Colgate also, since Michael was an alum of which the college was very proud-- and all of the Thurners are treasured here.
