Michael Falkoff Obituary

Michael D. Falkoff, MD

Michael D. Falkoff, MD, 73, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on July 2nd, 2021 with his family by his side. He is predeceased by his parents Sophie and Harry and survived by his devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Cynthia. Michael was a beloved father to his three daughters Lauren Eggert, MD (Charles), Jennifer Falkoff Akselrad (Mitchell) and Alexandra Falkoff. He was a proud papa to three granddaughters Willa, Amelia, and Eden. He is also survived by his sister Andrea Singer (Martin) and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dr. Falkoff practiced cardiology for over forty years in Rochester, New York, describing it as a calling rather than simply a career. He was extremely dedicated to his many patients, some of whom he treated for decades and many of whom had to endure his corny jokes. Despite a progressing illness and a variety of passions including trading stocks, rooting for Detroit sports teams and wine tasting, he resisted retirement until the end of 2019. He and Cynthia moved to California just before the pandemic to be close to their three daughters.

Deepest thanks to his wonderful oncologists Scott Kopetz, MD, Aram Hezel MD, and George Fisher, MD, who worked tirelessly to prolong his life these last several years.

A private burial was held in Palo Alto, CA on July 6th. A memorial will be held to commemorate his life on Saturday, September 25th at 10am at The Rochester Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Ave, Rochester, New York. All are welcome to attend.

Donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute of Rochester, NY.

With great sympathy for Dr. Falkoff `s wife and daughters, Earths loss
Heavens Gain.
Dr.Falkoff took great care of our father and in doing so took care of our mother. My mother called him the Eminent Dr.Falkoff.
He was a great doctor as well as a sweet and proud and a humble person that shared a sweet video of his granddaughter playing peek a boo behind the door w her Papa.
He always pointed in the right direction and took a special interest in the outcome. I remember sitting in the exam room trading iPhones with him to watch his little granddaughter and him watching my Jackson and Violet ... he was watching the 4 th generation of my dads family ...
We were thankful for the many years his care gave us with our Dad .

" And in the end it's not the years in your life, it is the life in your years"
There are no words more applicable to a wonderful man who lived life so fully. Passionate about work, love of family, wine.....more wine , perhaps a few more bottles: ) we still have room?
He will be sorely missed as he takes his kindness, brilliant mind, humor, empathy, and tenacity to a well deserved heaven.
My deepest sympathy to Cindy, Lauren, Jennie, Ally
