Nancy Rubacha Obituary

Nancy C. Rubacha

Irondequoit - Long time resident of Irondequoit. Passed away unexpectedly at her home in Chapel Oaks on December 22, 2020 at age 94. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Chester M. Rubacha, daughter, Jane (Dave) Yaworski and parents, Henry and Nora Clements.

Raised on a farm in Avon, New York with six sisters and two brothers, she moved to Rochester in 1944. There she attended R.B.I. and worked at the Rochester Project. She subsequently raised a family and started a second career at Rochester General Hospital, retiring after 30 years of service.

Nancy had a large circle of lifelong friends. Nancy and Chet loved to travel with them visiting numerous spots in Europe and North America. Always close to her family, she enjoyed large family gatherings and time with her siblings, their spouses and many children. Most recently she found a wonderful home at Chapel Oaks where she shared her positive attitude and enthusiasm with a new circle of friends. Theater, current events, exercise, Morgan & McKenzie, a glass of wine with friends kept her vital and engaged. Refusing to be slowed by COVID, she discovered FaceTime and used it to stay connected with sisters, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Helen (Van) Hulburt; son, Paul (Bambi) Rubacha; four grandchildren, Leah (Chris) Thomas, Erin (Greg) Tellex, Chris (Laurel) Rubacha and Elizabeth Rubacha and four great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID restrictions, all services will be immediate family only. A celebration of her life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Nancy's name to Hillside Children's Foundation, PO Box 23805, Rochester, New York, 14593 or Irondequoit United Church of Christ - Memorial Fund, 644 Titus Ave, Rochester, New York, 14617. So sorry to hear of Nancy’s passing. She and Chet were good friends of my parents, Don and Carol Wright. My Mom just turned 90 on December 6th and received a beautiful card and humorous poem from Nancy about lithe “joy” of being in your 90’s. We knew Nancy and Chet from Ridgemont Country Club. They were always upbeat- their positive spirits front and center. We are hopeful they are reunited somehow and basking in the glory!
Prayers for the family who will feel the loss the most. God bless,
Lynn and Lou Spiotti

For Paul, This is Nancy Tellier, Mark’s wife. I knew your mother for years through my mother-in-law Marge Tellier. I’m so very sorry for your loss of your Mom. Your mother gave Marge and father gave Marge & Chuck, my father in law many many years of love, care and joy. They were truly the meaning of friends.

I knew Nancy from the many years of working at RGH. Can still hear her laugh and see her smile. She was a treasure. I believe, and am happy, she was with Chet and Jane this Christmas.
